This page explains how we process data you provide when you contact hardMent by email or choose to share it with the author through Leanpub.

1. Data controller

2. Data and purpose

If you email us, we receive your email address, the name shown in your message and the information you include. We use it to respond to your enquiry, answer your interest in training or a publication and manage our correspondence. Please provide only the information needed for your enquiry.

This website has no sign-up forms, user accounts or payment systems. Contact buttons open your email application; clicking one does not automatically send a message.

3. Legal basis

If you request information in connection with a possible contract, the legal basis is taking pre-contractual steps at your request. For other enquiries, processing is based on our legitimate interest in responding to and managing the communications we receive. You may object to this processing as provided by applicable law.

Contacting us does not subscribe you to a marketing list. If you choose to share your email address with the author on Leanpub to access the Community Edition, hardMent may receive that address and, if requested by the platform, your name. We will use it to manage our relationship with readers. Sharing it with the author is based on your choice on Leanpub. We will send marketing communications only where there is specific consent or another applicable legal basis. You can withdraw your consent by emailing contacto@hardment.com without affecting earlier processing. We will not automatically add this address to unrelated marketing campaigns.

4. Retention and recipients

We keep messages for as long as necessary to respond to the request and manage the resulting relationship. This period depends on the duration of the enquiry and, where applicable, statutory periods for possible claims. Reader details shared by Leanpub with the author are kept while we maintain that relationship or until you withdraw consent, and then for any applicable statutory period; the data is then deleted or access is restricted for those periods. Technical hosting logs are kept for the time needed to deliver and protect the service and resolve incidents, according to the provider’s terms and applicable legal obligations.

Email and hosting providers may process data as necessary to provide their services, subject to applicable safeguards. Data may also be disclosed where required by law.

Our hosting provider receives technical connection data needed to deliver and protect the website, such as your IP address, the requested resource and the access date. This is done to provide and secure the site, on the basis of the owner’s legitimate interest. We do not use this data for advertising profiles or visitor analytics. This website does not make automated decisions about its visitors.

5. Your rights

You may request access to, rectification or erasure of your data, restriction of processing, object to processing, and request portability where applicable. Send your request to our contact address and state which right you wish to exercise. If necessary, we may ask for the minimum information needed to verify your identity.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency.

6. Videos and links to other platforms

YouTube players are blocked when you first open the website. They load only after you select “Accept and load video” in the prior notice. The provider—Google Ireland Limited for users in the European Economic Area—may receive connection and usage data, including your IP address and interactions with the video, and use its own technologies. Optional activation is based on your consent, which you can withdraw using “Disable YouTube” beside the carousel. We do not retain your authorisation for future visits.

Google processes data under its privacy policy and may make international transfers using the mechanisms it publishes. Our information about cookies and videos explains purposes, withdrawal and available controls. Thumbnails are served by hardMent and do not activate the player.

If you choose to buy the book or request its Community Edition on Leanpub, you provide the necessary data directly to that platform; please review its privacy policy before continuing. When you follow other external links, such as “Watch on YouTube” or a LinkedIn profile, the destination platform’s terms and policies apply.
